The orchestra eagerly awaits playing this special concert under the direction of its celebrated conductor, Conrad van Alphen. With the universal language of music all pieces on the programme, though created in different cultures and eras, are accessible to all.
The programme starts with Grażyna Bacewicz's concerto for string orchestra. She is regarded as one of the most influential Polish composers of her generation. Subsequently, Johanna Wallroth touches one's heart in Osvaldo Golijov's Three Songs for Soprano. The influence of his Argentinian, Ukrainian, Romanian and Jewish descent can clearly be heard in these emotional songs. The concert concludes with one of the orchestra's favourite symphonies by Joseph Haydn, the Austrian composer fondly referred to as Pappa Haydn. Experience it for yourself, get your tickets!
