Kip Festival

Kip Festival

Amsterdam, Rotterdam
6 euros online; 7,50 euros at the entrance (free for children)

Have you ever been to a chicken festival? It’s not the most common type of festival in this part of the world, being strongly associated with the southern parts of the United States. But Kip Festival in Amsterdam and Rotterdam has proven to be every bit as delicious and exciting as its American counterparts.

Chicken dishes from all over the world

At the Kip Festival, expect chicken dishes from all over the world: Jamaican jerk chicken, Japanese chicken teriyaki, American Southern fried chicken, buffalo wings, barbecue chicken, Greek gyros chicken, Halal chicken dishes, Indian and Thai chicken curries, Indonesian chicken sate and some good, honest oven-roasted chicken.

Some preparations of chicken might surprise you: chicken waffles, chicken marinated in cola, lemongrass chicken and red chicken fajitas on blue tacos.

Organic chicken guaranteed

There’s no low-quality chicken at the Kip Festival. As consumers, chicken farmers, producers and suppliers become increasingly aware of the pitfalls of the food industry, the demand for organic, free-range chicken has sky-rocketed. That’s why Kip Festival encourages its caterers to go for the eco option.

Kip Festival goes even further and indicates how organic the chicken in each stall is with the following labels: Gold (80-100 percent organic), Silver (50 to 80 percent organic) and Bronze (15 to 50 percent) organic.

Kip Festival events

As well as good food, chicken-lovers can enjoy bands and DJs, from reggae, afro, Latin, dancehall and soca music to kizomba and salsa. You can take part in percussion and dance workshops, pass the time on a bouncy castle and kids can have their faces painted.

There are two editions of the Kip Festival this summer:

  • Rembrandt Park, Amsterdam on July 27 to 29
  • Het Park, Rotterdam on August 24 to 26

Buy your Kip Festival tickets
