Dutch Sounds at Muziekgebouw with Liza Ferschtman and Amsterdam Sinfonietta
The Dutch Sounds series at Muziekgebouw brings a focus to top Dutch solo classical musicians. At 7.15pm, there will be a pre-concert talk by an NRC music journalist, with drinks in the foyer of Muziekgebouw.
Liza Ferschtman and Amsterdam Sinfonietta
The concert on October 5 features violinist Liza Ferschtman with the Amsterdam Sinfonietta. She will be performing Shostakovich's Sonata for Violin, Strings and Percussion op. 134 for the first time with this dynamic ensemble. This complex and devilishly demanding work is joined by another gem by Shostakovich, namely the Chamber Symphony.
Providing a nice contrast is a feeling of serenity with Bach’s Contrapunctus I-IV from The Art of Fugue and Arvo Pärt’s mesmerising Fratres, for violin, strings and percussion.
A new work by Icelandic composer Daníel Bjarnason and Iceland-based Australian composer Ben Frost called Reyja from Music for Sólaris will be performed for the first time ever in the Netherlands.
