About the film
"Il Gattopardo" portrays the decaying influence of the Sicilian nobility, during ‘the Risorgimento,’ the years of the Italian unification (1815-1870) and follows the Sicilian prince Don Fabrizio, who is forced to witness the crumbling of the aristocracy.
The film is based on Giuseppe Tomasi Di Lampedusa’s great novel of the same name. The screening will include an introduction by Di Lampedusa’s adoptive son and Italian professor of music, Gioacchino Lanza Tomasi.
