About SKiN

SKiN (HUiD) is a visual and musical performance that explores the skin in a daring experiment of percussion and touch.

Beating on the stretched skin of a drum brings forth all kinds of sounds, but what happens if your drum is a human being? Percussionists from Slagwerk Den Haag and physical performers of Schweigman& explore.

The surface of living human skin is rubbed, hit and caressed in search of rhythm and a unique sound. The bodies that are used as musical instruments react, making the experience visual as well as musical.

Composition by Arnoud Noordegraaf

The piece’s musical composition was created by Arnoud Noordegraaf, in close collaboration with the percussionists. It forms a rich acoustic vocabulary, in which instruments and the human body produce sounds beyond their natural capacities.
