CaDance modern Dance Festival
CaDance, the biannual Modern Dance Festival, is an event full of firsts, where up-and-coming choreographers present their latest productions and projects in The Hague. It is organised by Korzo, one of the most important modern dance producers in the country. This two-week festival is filled with dance performances as well as dinners, talk shows and arrangements.
"The Art of Seeing"
This year’s CaDance Festival approaches the theme "The Art of Seeing". Get up close and personal and look dance right in the eyes through intimate performances and inspiring meetings. The audience is invited not only to feel a connection with the performers as they present themselves on stage, but also to meet and talk to the dancers and choreographers on several occasions.
Three stunning performances
Have a look these three performances that explore modern dance and personal connections. Which one would you like to see in person?
› Reapproaching Bach
Heather Ware, Jakob Koranyi
- Date and time: January 28 (9pm) or 29 (7pm)
- Venue: Korzo Studio
Dance, short stories, humour and play are brought in contact with Bach’s awe-inspiring music. Heather and Jakob overturn the conventions of the classical concert and play fast and loose with prejudices about dance as well as Bach. Together, they venture into unknown territory to find a place where they can be vulnerable and human, and where they can surrender themselves to the pure beauty of the music.
› PARA|DISO Revisited
Emio Greco & Pieter C. Scholten / ICK
- Date and time: February 3 or 4 (9pm)
- Venue: Theater aan het Spui
PARA|DISO is the last of the four-part work based on Dante’s La Divina Commedia. Six dancers are on a journey to the Hereafter. They seduce each other in a monumental white world full of immeasurable bliss, but ambiguity is waiting round the corner. Paradise is grand, but it is also fragile. It shows many faces, all of them as beautiful as they are terrifying.
› Satyagraha
Philip Glass /Kwekers in de Kunst and Korzo producties
- Date and time: February 8 or 9, 8pm
- Venue: Theater aan het Spui
Theatre choir Dario Fo and the Indian Zangam choir join forces for the large-scale music project Satyagraha. World-famous composer Philip Glass wrote this opera in 1980. Enhanced with Indian and modern dance, this contemporary version offers an entirely new perspective on the opera. Act 1 and Act 2 of Satyagraha will be reprised especially for CaDance, in an inspiring happening full of dance, vocals, and music.
Please note: Ticket competition winners are announced on the closing date. Each winner will receive one double ticket. Remember to check this page or your inbox to see if you've been selected!
