Marriage date is more often postponed

More and more couples in the Netherlands live together before they get married and thus, the marriage date is more often postponed, according to Statistics Netherlands.

Insights (2010)

 73.000 marriages were performed in 2010 (same as in 2009).
 For one fifth of brides, it was their second marriage.
 One in ten first-time brides were over the age of 40 (1% in 1980).
 One in five women who married for the first time were under the age of 25 (75% in 1980).
 More than half of first-time mothers are not married.
