The Netherlands ranked eighth-best country for expat quality of life

For the second year in a row, the Netherlands has managed to nab a top 10 spot in a ranking assessing the quality of life for expats in different countries around the world, coming in eighth place and beating the likes of Singapore, Sweden, and Germany.

Expat Quality of Life Ranking 2021

Put together by Blacktower Financial Group, which helps to provide financial advice for British citizens living abroad, the Expat Quality of Life Ranking assess the quality of life offered to international people living in a number of countries across the world.

Looking at data for 195 different countries, the study examined each nation’s happiness ranking, as well as the average salary, cost of living, quality of healthcare, average income to property price ratio and the country’s global peace level. Through this data, they were able to compile a list of the top 25 countries around the world for expats.

Compared to last year’s ranking, the top 10 countries remains unchanged, with Switzerland once again being named the best country in the world for quality of life for expats. The Nordic countries have also performed exceptionally well, with Denmark, Iceland, Norway and Finland all making it into the top 10.

The Netherlands found to be one of the best countries for expat living

The latest version of Blacktower’s ranking saw the Netherlands achieve a very respectable eighth-place score, matching its performance in the 2020 ranking and beating a number of its European neighbours and other popular expat destinations.

Out of the countries that made it into the top 10, the Netherlands performed well when it came to quality of healthcare and overall happiness, but was let down by its global peace level and average income to property price ratio.
