DigiD fraud emails

By Nico Koppel

The Belastingdienst (Dutch tax office) and DigiD have warned about fraudulent emails!

According to the email, which is supposedly sent from the Belastingdienst, the receiver has to click a link with the DigiD logo in order to receive a tax refund. He / she is then redirected to a website and asked to fill in his / her DigiD username and password.

Those who followed these instructions must cancel their DigiD (digital authentication of one's identity), request a new one and contact the DigiD helpdesk at info[at]digid[dot]nl.

According to the official DigiD website, "DigiD's organisation or employees will never prompt you to reveal a user name, password, or activation or transaction code. Not by way of e-mail, phone or any other means of communication."
