Coronavirus: Number of patients rises to 382, RIVM confirms new death

As of yesterday, there are 61 more patients in the Netherlands who have been infected with the new coronavirus, according to the RIVM (National Institute for Public Health and Environment). The official number of corona patients in the Netherlands is now 382.

Majority of patients in North Brabant & Utrecht

Of the 382 people who have been infected with the virus, 161 got infected abroad. For 156 patients, the source of infection is as of yet still unknown or under investigation. More than half of these patients live in North Brabant (157), whilst the Utrecht province has 55 reported cases.

Yesterday evening, the cabinet held an emergency meeting concerning the virus and urged all people in the Netherlands to no longer greet each other with a handshake. People who live in North Brabant were asked to stay and work from home, when possible, whether they have symptoms or not.

Another death in the Netherlands confirmed

The RIVM also confirmed a new death; a 78-year-old-man with vulnerable health. This brings the number of coronavirus-related deaths in the Netherlands to four. The first death occurred just last week.

RTL news reports that worldwide almost 115.000 people have been infected with the new coronavirus, over 4.000 people have died and more than 64.000 people have recovered.
