The Netherlands ranks in the top 10 best countries for students

A recent survey has ranked the Netherlands amongst the top 10 countries in the world for higher education. Within the country itself, the survey found that Utrecht was the best Dutch city for students in the Netherlands.

The Netherlands ranks as the ninth-best country for students

A study, conducted by student review site The Campus Advisor last year, asked 17.824 students from all over the world to rate the countries they received their degrees in. Students were asked to give a one to five rating in six different categories: Quality of Education, Cost of Living as a Student, Graduate Career Prospects, Student Diversity, Arts and Culture and Social Life. The scores were then used to determine the top 20 countries for higher education in 2022.

The Netherlands ranked as the ninth-best country for higher education in the world, receiving a 4,32 out of five. Students rated the University of Amsterdam as the best university in the Netherlands in 2022, whilst Utrecht was voted the best student city.

The Netherlands excels in quality of education

The Netherlands scored pretty highly across the board, receiving its best scores in the Graduate Career Prospects (4,58) and Quality of Education (4,57) categories. The Dutch museums, parks, bars and clubs also made a good impression on students, with the Netherlands also chalking up a high score in the Social Life (4,55) category. The Netherlands' overall rating was only brought down by its Cost of Living score (3,19).

Overall, the Netherlands ranked higher than a lot of great student countries, like France, Japan and Belgium. Several European countries did rank higher than the Netherlands though, including Germany, which ranked fourth, and Switzerland, which ranked sixth.
