Surveillance Detection Shift Supervisor

Post: U.S. Embassy The Hague

Work Schedule: Full-time - 40 hours per week
Salary:  EUR 29,247 (Grade LE- 8) based on a 40-hour work week.  An additional 20.2%
will be added to the Locally Employed (LE) Staff salary listed for allowances and premiums.
Duration Appointment: Initial contract of one year, includes a one-month probationary period, with view to extension.


Basic Function of Position: Provides security for U.S. Government facilities and family members by performing procedures to detect, recognize and report on surveillance directed against U.S Government facilities and/or personnel and provides support directly, or by calling for assistance.  In case of an imminent attack, calls for immediate assistance and takes action to prevent injury or death to personnel and destruction of property.  Assists the SD Team Coordinator and provides work guidance of SD Guards.



Experience: Two years of surveillance or related experience, including six months supervisory experience is required.  Previous military, police, or security related experience in a position which involved observation/surveillance skills and techniques is required.

Job Knowledge: Must be familiar with procedures for conducting and reporting surveillance; capable of discerning normal traffic patterns, pedestrian behavior, and choke points of Embassy facilities, access and travel routes.

Education: Completion of secondary school is required.



Language Requirements: Level 3 (good working knowledge) of English and Dutch for speaking, reading, and writing is required.  (This may be tested.)

Skills and Abilities: Possession of a valid Dutch driver's license B and drivers medical certification is required.  Competent reporting skills required.  Must have basic knowledge of computer programs such as MS Office Word (level I keyboard/typing and basic computers skills).  Must be trustworthy.  Must be able to work independently.  Must be able to adapt to changing circumstances without requesting guidance.  Strong organizational and analytical skills required. Must be able to pass a driver's medical exam.

Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass security certification and may be required to obtain a Certificate of Conduct for Natural Persons (VOG) from the Dutch Ministry of Safety and Justice.
