Amsterdam Tax Office issues warning about fake tax requests
25 January 2013, by Carly BlairThe Amsterdam Tax Office announced that it has received reports that a company called "World Wide Administrators" has been posing as a government-related tax service and scamming some Amsterdam residents into transferring them money.
This false request is described as Gemeentelijke heffingen 2013 (Municipal taxes 2013), and is to be transferred to Bank account number 5462459.
This account number is not owned by the Tax Office, and the Amsterdam Tax Office has not given any such command regarding the aforementioned taxes.
Anyone who has had this happen to them can get their money returned to them by their bank as a wrongful debit. Banks will then report any such wrongful debit to the collections processor Equens.
