How to apply for a DigiD

To apply for a DigiD (digital authentication of
one's identity) follow the steps:

1. Fill in your personal information & agree to the
conditions (gebruiksvoorwaarden). In specific:
› BSN (Burgerservicenummer)
› Date of birth (Geboortedatum)
› ZIP-code (Postcode)
› House number (Huisnummer)
› House number additional information (if
applicable) (Huisnummertoevoeging)
› E-mail address
› Confirm e-mail address (herhalen)
› Accept terms by clicking on the box
› Click "Verder" (next)

2. Then, choose username and password:
› Username (Gebruikersnaam)
› Password (Wachtwoord)
› Repeat password (Herhaal wachtwoord)
› Click "Aanvragen" (request)

3. Text message validation. Optional step that
you can skip by clicking "Overslaan" (skip).
Otherwise fill in:
› Mobile number (without any spaces)
› Click "Verder" (next)
› Enter the validation code you just received by
SMS in the “Vul hier de code uit uw sms in”
› Click "Verder" (next)

4. The activation code will be sent within 5 days
by mail to your registered address. You need to
activate your DigiD account in less than 20
days.

How to activate your account

Go to DigiD and
› Click on "Activeren" (activate)
› Enter your username (Gebruikersnaam)
› Enter your password (Wachtwoord)
› Enter the activation code (Activeringscode)
› Enter the transactiecode you just received
through an sms (only if you have applied for a
text message validation)
› Click “Activeren” (activate)

Your DigiD has been successfully activated.
