Be amazed as young composers from around the world break the mould of traditional classical composing and present their own takes during the Gaudeamus Music Week in Utrecht!

Classic with a contemporary twist

The Gaudeamus Music Week continues to expand and has earned a reputation for being one of the best showcases of international young talent in the world of composing.

As composing can be quite a difficult industry in which to find one's way, the platform and competitions that Gaudeamus offers talented young composers is invaluable in terms of being seen and heard.

Representative of this goal is the coveted Gaudeamus Prize awarded to composers under the age of 30.

Consisting of 4.550 euros to compose a piece for the following year, the awarding of the prize is truly a jumpstart in the careers of the winners.

For the 2014 edition, the five competing composers are Francisco Castillo Trigueros, Hikari Kiyama, Anna Korsun, Marina Poleukhina and Benjamin Scheuer
