Pathé cinemas has been working hard to make some of the best arts and cultural productions more accessible to audiences throughout the Netherlands.

About Pathé Specials

Through their Pathé Specials series, visitors can experience world-renowned theatre, music, ballet, opera and sport events with crisp sound and high-quality video to make it feel like they are actually there!

What's more is that many of these events, when in season, are streamed live from their location, thereby allowing visitors of Pathé to experience it just as the actual audience does.

Missed a performance? Have no fear! Understanding that busy lives mean audiences can't always be present for the live-stream, Pathé also replays the most popular performances from previous broadcasts and seasons.

With groups like the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company from London, the Metropolitan Opera from New York and the Bolshoi Ballet from Moscow, Pathé has broken down the barrier of distance for live performances.

'Monty Python Live (Mostly)' at Pathé

British comedy group Monty Python has been influencing the genre of sketch and performance comedy for a generation.

Beginning in 1969 with their show Monty Python's Flying Circus, they would soon garner a cult following based on their distinct, stream-of-consciousness style of comedy that would lead them to make major successful movie productions such as Life of Brian, Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Monty Python's The Meaning of Life

The group's remaining members John Cleese, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Michael Palin and director Terry Gilliam haven't performed together live since their 1980 production at the Hollywood Bowl.

Selling out London's O2 Arena in just 43,5 seconds, this reunion could very well be their last and Pathé will be replaying the broadcast for audiences in the Netherlands to enjoy!

Expect a sketch-based show that will be "a little comedy, a lot of pathos, a lot of music and a tiny bit of ancient sex... and maybe some cross dressing."
