Shen Yun Performing Arts, a New York-based dance company specialising in classical Chinese styles, will be showcasing its unique blend of historical techniques at the Lucent Danstheater in The Hague!

About Shen Yun

Founded in 2006, Shen Yun's mission is to revive elements of Chinese culture through the universal language of music and dance by incorporating aspects of ancient legends, modern heroic tales and heavenly realms based in a rich 5.000 year history.

Shen Yun combines some of the world's best classically trained dancers with a soundtrack provided by a live orchestra to create a spectacularly entertaining show.

Known for its incredible flips, spins and graceful movements, traditional Chinese dance is one of the most rigorous dance styles to perform.

Blending these classical methods with a variety of folk and ethnic traditions, the choreography of Shen Yun is as engaging as it is unique.

Along with being masters of technique, the dancers seek to tell stories through dramatic portrayals of prominent elements of Chinese civilisation which have inspired generations, such as the tales of Mulan and General Yue Fei.

Further adding to the stories told through movement is the music. The Shen Yun Orchestra scores the performances with a masterful combination of distinct Chinese music, such as the erhu and pipa, and the grandeur of typical instruments of the Western symphonic orchestra.

Completing the experience are the angelic voices of bel canto soloists singing songs that have been in the Chinese canon for centuries.
