Come and witness the magnificent classic sailing ships competing in Rotterdam’s Race of the Classics!

Students Racing in Classic Ships

Thought up 24 years ago by two sailing enthusiasts from the Amsterdamse Academie, this race celebrates the art of sailing at an amateur, student level.

Currently the world's largest sailing race for students using classical tall ships, the route takes around 500 of them from the Veerhaven in Rotterdam to a port in Belgium or the Netherlands, then on to England and a week later they return to Amsterdam via IJmuiden.

Of course, at the end of the race is the PortSide Party in Amsterdam, where the three winners are awarded their prize!

If you’re a fan of historic ships, be sure to be present at one of the ports and witness beauties like the Abel Tasman, Artemis, Luciana and Pedro Doncker!
