Flower Parade Rijnsburg 2014Other / Other
09 August 2014, 1pm - 6.30pm
The annual Flower Parade Rijnsburg will take place on August 9 this year with a multitude of floats, carriages, bands and vehicles showcasing magnificent sculptures and designs made of flowers!
Magnificent floral display in Rijnsburg
Attracting more than 250.000 visitors each year, the Flower Parade Rijnsburg has built a reputation for having some of the most gorgeous floral creations and floats.
Not limited to any one type of flower, the participants develop elaborate sets with costumes and props to even greater artistic effect.
Although the parade is on August 9, the entire weekend sees various activities taking place from Rijnsburg to Noordwijk. On August 8, there is an official opening ceremony by the mayor of Amsterdam, Eberhard van der Laan, and the coaches and floats are then revealed to visitors.
The following day sees the real parade, with the procession making its way from Rijnsburg to Katwijk and then on to Noordwijk. Along the way spectators line the streets, bands play music and those in the parade proudly smile and wave.
After the procession has ended, the floats then remain on display in Noordwijk the following day for the audience to get a closer look. The 2014 parade will be the 69th edition and, as always, will be nationally broadcast on channel MAX to more than 550.000 flower enthusiasts!
