Flower Parade 2014Other / Other
29 April 2014 - 04 May, Various
Taking place since 1947, the annual Flower Parade is a celebration of the warm weather, spring and of course the flowers that have made Holland famous!
The Flower Parade
This festive event aims to highlight the famous bulb-growing region of the North Holland.
Consisting of the area between Haarlem and Leiden, this region explodes with colour in the spring thanks to the various flowers including tulips, daffodils and hyacinths.
After being processed, a portion of the spectacular flowers are used for decorating floats and luxury cars that then pass through the cities of the bulb-growing region.
Along with the multi-day parade, each community organises its own side programme of events and viewing points.
This year, the parade will travel from Noordwijk to Voorhout, Sassenheim, Lisse (Keukenhof), Hillegom, Bennebroek, Heemstede and culminate in Haarlem.
Flower Parade 2014
The theme for the 2014 Flower Parade is Energy.
This means that each person or organisation building a float will have to brainstorm and create a work that reflects their interpretation of energy.
› April 30 - May 2 | The floats are prepared in the Klinkenberghal in Sassenheim. They can be viewed for a fee.
› May 2 | The floats are on display in Noordwijkerhout.
