The fourth edition of the thought provoking Graphic Design Festival Breda (GDFB) will take place from April 17 to April 27 at various locations around the inner city.
Starting in 2008, the goal of the GDFB is to explore current developments in graphic visual culture and share these developments in both artistic and professional ways.
Serving as a platform for international designers, artists and tech developers, the festival inspires and confronts over 15.000 visitors and more than 75.000 passers-by through presenting work in both public and privates spaces to emphasise the impact of visual culture.
Through these confrontations and the associated presentations in galleries and other temporary locations, graphic designers and visual artists are able to engage the audience with a contextualised display of the latest in graphic culture and visualisation.
Theme of GDFB2014
GDFB 2014 will take the problematic state of social, political and economic unrest as a starting point.
Positioning graphic designers as problem solvers, the festival hopes to highlight how new economic and political systems are being designed.
Graphic designers represent a nexus who must integate technology, social and cultural sensitivity into complex, easily understandable solutions.
For the 2014 edition, the GDFB will focus on this role of design and the designer in developing solutions through sharing information and utilising feedback to constantly improve systems.
