About Disgrace
The story revolves around David Lurie (52), a lecturer who is fired after becoming caught up in a scandal following a relationship with one of his students in Cape Town Technical University. After being fired, he decides to stay with his daughter Lucy, who runs a farm in a South African country.
One day, David and Lucy are attacked by a group of black people. Lucy is raped but decides not to report it to the police and refuses to have an abortion. David - who still embraces the standards and values of the old South Africa - cannot understand her decision.
After giving up his role as an academic, David now has to give up his role as a father as well and learns to see himself for what he really is.
