SID (The Society for International Development) is an international non-governmental organisation based in The Hague.

The core activity of this organisation is an annual lecture series on international cooperation and development.

Individuals, organisations, governments and businesses all share important roles in supporting and respecting human rights.

During this lecture, Dick Benschop, CEO of Shell Nederland, will discuss how much leverage transnational companies have regarding human rights and how can they have a positive impact on human rights and avoid negative impact or even abuse.

Mr. Benschop will discuss these issues and others using the example of Shell in Nigera.

In addition, Bram van Ojik, Leader of the Green Left Party in the Dutch Parliament, will join the discussion.

Guests are invited for drinks to follow the lecture.
