Running the Dam tot Damloop
The Dam tot Damloop is the largest running event in Amsterdam and one of the largest in the Netherlands.
Boasting more than 50.000 participants in 2013, the event draws competitive international runners, amateur enthusiasts and a mass of spectators.
Lining the streets of a 10 mile (16.1 kilometre) route from the centre of Amsterdam to the centre of Zaandam, visitors can cheer on the runners as they compete for the 44.000 euros in prize money.
Along with the main event, there are also side events and runs taking place over the course of the weekend, including the new (and quite popular) nocturnal 4 English mile.
Register for the run or join residents of Zaandam and Amsterdam North as they set up decorations and make their own street party in cheering on the participants during the Dam tot Damloop!
