Amsterdam Solar Boat Parade 2014Other / Amsterdam
14 September, 1pm
On September 14, De Groene Grachten will once again hold the Amsterdam Solar Boat Parade, showcasing the strides in socially conscious innovation in the historic inner-city of the Dutch capital!
Canal parade for the eco-friendly
The Amsterdam Solar Boat Parade was first held in 2013 as a way to showcase the latest developments in environmentally friendly alternatives to traditonal fuel powered boats.
Using only solar power, the boats are designed independently by various Dutch teams, making each example unique and full of character.
Not only much quieter than traditional boats, the solar powered ships contribute to an increasingly cleaner canal, encouraging preservation and reducing the effects of increased usage.
An initiative of De Groene Grachten, the tour lasts about an hour and is in line with the mission of the organisation, which advocates increasingly sustainable solutions through technological innovation.
