Vis&Seizoen Food FestivalFestivals / Amsterdam
October 02-04 2014, Thurs-Fri 5pm-11pm; Sat 3pm-11pm
Vis&Seizoen is a brand new food festival in Amsterdam that will not only be offering delicious seafood from top rated area chefs, but also be spreading the word about the need for increased sustainability in the fish industry.
Vis&Seizoen: delicious & sustainable
The brainchild of Jan van As fish retailers and Hanos Horeca, the Vis&Seizoen festival is dedicated to raising awareness about the current state of fisheries.
All too often these mass fisheries are inhumane and contribute to over-fishing of certain species using suspect methods.
The winner of the Damprijs for the most sustainable MKB company in Amsterdam, Jan van As is out to prove that fish can be both ethically raised and deliciously prepared.
With the Markthal of the old Food Center on the Jan van Galenstraat transformed into a fish lovers heaven, some of the best chefs in Amsterdam will be present to prepare food, share recipes and conduct workshops to let visitors in on their secrets to making good fish taste great!
For three days fish will be the focus, but to keep things interesting each evening has a slightly different twist.
› October 2 | VIP Benefit Dinner
On Thursday, Vis&Seizoen will be catering to the fish foodies with a special VIP dinner.
This isn't just a benefit (although it is for a good cause!) as a full six course menu that includes proper wine pairings will be prepared by the chefs of the luxury hotels: Hotel Okura, Amstel Hotel, Conservatorium Hotel, Hilton, Grand Hotel Huis ter Duin & The Grand.
› October 3 | Night of Stars
Friday is all about the stars, Michelin that is. Chefs from Michelin restaurants will take the main podium to show how their favourite dishes are prepared live and in real time.
Take notes and try out their techniques at home!
› October 4 | Tastings all around
The final day of the festival is tasting focused. Indulge in the creative seafood dishes of well-known and up and coming chefs from all around Amsterdam!
