Magneet Festival & crowd-sourced talent

What's the point of being a creative hub if the talent is never showcased?

The organisers behind the Magneet Festival have chosen to rectify this dilemma for the city of Amsterdam. By offering a platform for artists to pitch their ideas online, the public then votes and decides what the festival line-up will consist of.

Obviously operating in the bounds of what is feasible, the ideas selected are then incorporated into the festival, allowing for a large degree of experimentation.

The environment also adds to the experience. A bit remote relative to Amsterdam, the Oostpunt has an "edge of the world" feel that sets it apart from the familiarities of daily life.

A small, but certainly popular event, the Magneet Festival retains a communal feel that has made it an asset to the increasingly commercial Dutch festival scene.
