This year, the Prince Claus Fund is hosting a festival highlighting the work of the 2013 Prince Claus Laureates at diverse locations including the University of Amsterdam, De Balie and the Stedelijk Museum!

About the Prince Claus Fund

Based on the principle that "culture is a basic need," the Prince Claus Fund’s mission is to actively support development through cultural initiatives in spaces where cultural expression, resources, research or opportunities are threatened or limited.

Each year, the Prince Claus Awards honour the outstanding achievements of 11 individuals or organisations whose cultural actions have a positive impact in their societies.

Culture in Action

For the first time in its 16-year history, all 11 laureates will be present in Amsterdam for the awards ceremony. In order to honour the work of these individuals, the Prince Claus Fund has organised a series of events to showcase their expertise through the Culture in Action: The Prince Claus Awards Week festival.

Events will include debates, interviews, discussions, film-screenings and performances featuring the 11 Prince Claus Laureates. This year’s laureates represent a diverse array of nations and disciplines, ranging from visual activists from China and South Africa to authors and performers from Chile and Paraguay.

Notes

All events will be in English
