Cinedans: Dance on Screen Festival is a film festival whose mission is to highlight the synthesis of dance and cinematography.
For Cinedans, the focus of the projects is dance on film. During the 11th edition, more than 90 international dance films, documentaries and interactive installations will be on display at the EYE Film Institute in Amsterdam.
Working through an open-call format, Cinedans receives over 250 submissions of original works that are then judged by a committee. After a selection is determined, the programme is further supplemented with self-curated films.
This year the guest curator is Peter Delpeut, a Dutch film maker who specialises in the use of found footage and will premier his own film One Hand Clapping.
In addition to Delpeut, Boris Pavel Conen will be the special guest.
Known for his television drama Exit and series De Geheimen van Barslet, Cinedans will be screening a selection of Conen's dance-oriented films including Between Entrance and Exit, for which he collaborated with choreographer Jiří Kylián and composer Han Otten.
