For six weeks, light and water combine to create a fantastic, colourful display along the Amstel River!
International artists have built light sculptures to brighten Amsterdam this winter during the first annual Amsterdam Light Festival.
› Christmas Canal Parade | December 15
An enchanting parade of illuminated boats will brighten up a dark winter evening along the Amstel River.
Occurring in Amsterdam’s city centre, dozens of boats will take part in a parade. Visitors can admire the view along the Amstel River while choir songs fill the air creating a fairytale winter scene.

Artistic lights will radiate following a path between Munt Square and the Amstel hotel, crossing the Amstel's famed Magere Brug (“Skinny Bridge”).
› Socialight | December 7
Groups can build their own unique lighting displays to be featured during the festival. Students can compete for the best bicycle lighting decorations.
