Golden Years: Rob Hornstra's RussiaExhibitions / Amsterdam
14 December 2013 - 02 March, 11am - 6pm
This exhibition, which has been dubbed "slow photo-journalism," features a selection of photographs taken in Russia throughout the last decade. They have been taken around the area of Sochi: the destination for the upcoming Winter Olympics.
The exhibit gives a thorough and sometimes touching insight into ordinary Russian life. The images show rural peasants, young soldiers and the urban middle-class going about their lives.

Hornstra says that he takes photos "to make people aware of what’s going on in the world. I want my images to tell stories and counter prejudices."
