Dutch photographer Marie Cécile Thijs is creating a whole new series with fascinating portraits - tranquil and dynamic photos, each showing the beauty and essence of food!

Marie Cécile Thijs has been specialising in art photography and portraiture for more than 15 years. In addition, she combines a contemporary style with her love for classical references. Again, powerful and distinguished images have been created.
The exhibition "FOOD PORTRAITS" shows a diversity of culinary portraits. Pink fungi under a bell jar, storm in glasses of water, distilled Umami and artichoke dripping in oil.

There also photographs so see with excavated soil, chanterelles on bread, weighted seabass in salt and bleeding beetroot.
The food series by Marie Cécile Thijs is published weekly in FD Persoonlijk, the glossy weekend magazine of Het Financieele Dagblad. The texts are by culinary historian and writer Hilary Akers.
The free work of Marie Cécile Thijs is included in the collections of the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Museum Rotterdam and numerous private art collectors. It also has been showcased at the Photo Festival Naarden, PHOTOVILLE New York and art fairs as Realisme, Artantique, Fotofever Brussels and PAN Amsterdam.
