Since water has been the most defining element of the Netherlands and its identity, "Sweet & Salt" takes a closer look at various aspects of the Netherlands’ relationship with water.
The exhibition presents more than 100 artworks and takes place at Kunsthal Rotterdam. The visitors will have the chance to "experience" the Dutch waterland in all its diversity. Both historical pieces by old masters and remarkable works by modern artists are exhibited as an insight into the essential role that art plays in the perception of water.
In addition to visual art, the exhibition includes media images of historic events such as the North Sea Flood of 1953.
