Amsterdam Marathon 2013Other / Amsterdam
20 October, 9am - 5pm
This annual event is one of the biggest on the Dutch sporting calendar!
It’s expected that the 2013 edition will draw more than 40.000 runners, with 40 per cent coming from abroad.
Thousands of supporters and continual entertainment at the sidelines means that this event feels as much like a party as a race.
The Amsterdam Marathon's 38th edition could be the best yet, as it ties in with other important 2013 celebrations: the 400th anniversary of Amsterdam’s treasured canals, the coronation of a new king and the reopening of the Rijksmuseum.
The Amsterdam Marathon’s chosen charity is the VUmc Cancer Centre, which means that all of the marathon’s participants and sponsors will be helping to fund important research and customised medical care.
There will also be a half-marathon, an eight kilometre run, an Olympic Kids Run and a Mini Marathon.
