A historic bridge in Rotterdam called De Hef has long been left idle. In 2014, the Rotterdam city council began funding the restoration of the bridge, now considered a national monument.

The bridge was built between 1925 and 1927 and was used to connect railway services from the north to the south of Rotterdam. It was in operation up to 1993 when the tunnel opened.

The Hef Foundation hopes to convert the bridge into a museum attraction with a restaurant where the citizens of Rotterdam have the opportunity to learn more about its history alongside getting a great view.

This time-lapse shows the middle section of the bridge, about 55 metres long and nine wide, being put back between its towers, and you can get a glimpse of what the Hef Experience Rotterdam will be like just below it.
